Savannah Guthrie makes chilling confession that mom Nancy may be dead

The family of Savannah Guthrie is enduring an agonizing wait as the search for her mother, Nancy Guthrie, stretches into its fourth week. In a deeply emotional update shared online, the Today show anchor acknowledged a possibility no daughter ever wants to face — that her 84-year-old mother may no longer be alive.

Nancy Guthrie vanished from her residence in the Catalina Foothills area, just north of Tucson, on February 1. Since that night, authorities have been working around the clock, examining every potential lead and outcome in what has become a complex and distressing investigation.

According to reports, surveillance footage captured by a Ring doorbell camera shows a masked individual near the property around the time Nancy disappeared. Investigators have not confirmed the person’s identity, but the footage has intensified fears that her disappearance may have involved foul play.

On February 24 — marking 24 days since her mother was last seen — Savannah Guthrie posted a heartfelt video message on Instagram. Speaking directly to viewers, she described the emotional toll the uncertainty has taken on her family.

“Hi there. I’m coming on to say it is day 24 since our mom was taken in the dark of night from her bed and every hour and minute and second and every long night has been agony since then of worrying about her and fearing about her, aching for her and most of all just missing her,” Savannah Guthrie said.

Her words conveyed both exhaustion and resilience. She thanked the countless people who have offered prayers and support during the ordeal, emphasizing how much that solidarity has meant to her family.

“We know that millions of you have been praying, so many people have been praying of every faith and no faith at all. We feel those prayers.”

While urging the public to continue praying “without ceasing,” the veteran broadcaster said she still believes in the possibility of a miracle. She expressed hope that her mother could yet return home safely.

At the same time, she addressed the grim reality her family is now confronting.

“We also know that she may be lost. She may already be gone. She may have already gone home to the Lord that she loves and is dancing in Heaven with her mom and her dad and with her beloved brother Pierce and with our daddy,” Savannah Guthrie said. “And if this is what is to be, then we will accept it, but we need to know where she is. We need her to come home.”

Those words — balancing faith, grief, and the desperate need for answers — struck a chord with viewers across social media. For many families facing similar tragedies, the uncertainty can be as painful as the loss itself.

Authorities in Arizona have been inundated with tips. Within the first two weeks of the investigation, more than 18,000 pieces of information were reportedly submitted to law enforcement. Each lead has been reviewed as officials continue combing through evidence in hopes of locating Nancy Guthrie.

In a further appeal to the public, Savannah announced that her family is offering a reward of up to $1 million for credible information that leads to her mother’s recovery. She stressed that tipsters may remain anonymous and encouraged anyone with knowledge of the case to step forward immediately.

“You can call the 1-800 tip line, you can be anonymous if you want. Someone out there knows something that can bring her home. Somebody knows, and we are begging you to please come forward now.”

As the days pass, the search for Nancy Guthrie continues under mounting emotional strain. The family’s message remains clear: whether the outcome brings relief or heartbreak, they need answers.

For now, loved ones, colleagues, and viewers across the country remain hopeful that clarity — and perhaps a miracle — will come soon.
