Iranian Cleric Issues Strong Warning Toward Donald Trump After Reported U.S. Naval Strike

Tensions between the United States and Iran intensified this week after reports that a U.S. naval strike sank an Iranian warship in the Indian Ocean, triggering strong reactions from Iranian officials and religious figures directed at former U.S. president Donald Trump.

Naval Strike Raises Stakes

According to statements released Wednesday, U.S. forces carried out a military operation targeting an Iranian vessel operating in the region. The attack marks another serious development in the broader geopolitical confrontation involving Iran, the United States, and Israel.

The strike reportedly sank the Iranian frigate Dena, which was said to be sailing in international waters during the incident.

Casualties Reported on Multiple Sides

The broader conflict has already resulted in significant casualties. Reports indicate that more than 1,000 people have died inside Iran during the ongoing hostilities, while six American service members have also been confirmed killed.

Security incidents connected to the confrontation have been reported across several countries in the region, underscoring how widely tensions are spreading.

U.S. Confirms Submarine Operation

During a press briefing, U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth confirmed that American forces conducted a naval strike in the Indian Ocean.

According to the briefing, a U.S. submarine launched torpedoes that struck the Iranian warship, causing it to sink. Reports suggest that more than 80 sailors may have been killed in the incident.

Iran’s foreign minister, Abbas Araqchi, condemned the attack and warned that Washington could face consequences if such actions continue.

In a post on X, Araqchi described the strike as a serious escalation.

“The U.S. has perpetrated an atrocity at sea, 2,000 miles away from Iran’s shores,” he wrote. “Frigate Dena, a guest of India’s Navy carrying almost 130 sailors, was struck in international waters without warning. Mark my words: the United States will regret the precedent it has set.”

Cleric Delivers Harsh Rhetoric

Following the naval incident, Iranian cleric Abdollah Javadi Amoli addressed the situation during a broadcast on Iranian state television.

Amoli called for unity among Iranians while sharply criticizing U.S. policy and what he described as aggression by Washington.

His remarks reportedly included strong rhetoric directed at Trump as tensions continued to mount.

Assassination Plot Allegations

Earlier the same day, Defense Secretary Hegseth also claimed that an Iranian-linked unit had been involved in an alleged assassination attempt targeting Trump.

According to Hegseth, U.S. intelligence identified the leader of the unit responsible and eliminated him during a counteroperation.

“The leader of the unit who attempted to assassinate President Trump has been hunted down and killed,” Hegseth stated during the briefing.

Global Security Concerns

The latest developments have heightened concerns among international analysts about the possibility of broader escalation between the United States and Iran.

Diplomatic and military responses in the coming days are expected to play a crucial role in determining whether tensions cool or continue to intensify.
