Donald Trump recently spoke about an emotional moment with families of American service members killed during the escalating conflict with Iran.
According to Trump, the relatives of several fallen soldiers shared a similar message with him during a military ceremony honoring those who died in the fighting.
Ceremony at Dover Air Force Base
The president attended a dignified transfer ceremony at Dover Air Force Base, where the remains of service members killed overseas are returned to the United States.
These ceremonies are held with strict military protocol and are meant to honor those who died while serving the country.
The event recognized six members of the U.S. Army Reserve who were killed during the early days of the conflict:
- Chief Warrant Officer 3 Robert M. Marzan, 54
- Major Jeffrey R. O’Brien, 45
- Captain Cody Khork, 35
- Sergeant Noah Tietjens, 42
- Sergeant Nicole Amor, 39
- Sergeant Declan Coady, 20
Later reports also confirmed the death of another soldier, Army Sgt. Benjamin N. Pennington, 26, bringing the number of U.S. fatalities linked to the conflict even higher.
What Trump Says the Families Asked
Speaking with reporters after meeting with the families, Trump described the conversations as deeply emotional.
He said that many of the grieving parents and relatives expressed the same request to him.
“When you have conflicts like this, you always have death. And I was at Dover yesterday. I met the parents, and they were unbelievable people,” Trump said.
According to the president, the families shared a clear message:
“They all had one thing in common. They said to me one thing, every single one: ‘Finish the job, sir, please finish the job.’”
Trump suggested the comments reflected the families’ desire for the conflict to be resolved decisively.
Escalation of the Conflict
The current tensions escalated after joint military strikes by the United States and Israel targeted Iranian facilities on February 28. Reports from the region indicated that Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, was killed during the strikes.

Despite the ongoing military actions, Trump emphasized that he hopes the war will conclude soon.
“Wrapping up is all in my mind,” he said, referring to his goal of ending the confrontation.
