The world has lost a legendary figure. Chuck Norris — the martial arts champion turned Hollywood action star — has died at the age of 86.
Norris was widely known for his powerful screen presence, martial arts mastery, and his starring role in the long-running television series Walker, Texas Ranger. According to a statement shared by his family, Norris passed away peacefully on Friday morning after being hospitalized in Hawaii the day before.
In their statement, his family expressed deep sorrow while remembering the life he lived:
“It is with heavy hearts that our family shares the sudden passing of our beloved Chuck Norris yesterday morning. While we would like to keep the circumstances private, please know that he was surrounded by his family and was at peace.”
They described him not only as a global icon but also as the center of their family.
“To the world, he was a martial artist, actor, and a symbol of strength. To us, he was a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, an incredible brother, and the heart of our family.”
Born in 1940 in Oklahoma, Norris first rose to prominence as a martial arts champion before moving into acting. His breakthrough came in the film The Way of the Dragon, where he famously fought Bruce Lee in one of cinema’s most memorable martial arts scenes.
He went on to become a major action star in films such as Good Guys Wear Black, The Octagon, and Missing in Action. His television role as Cordell Walker in Walker, Texas Ranger further cemented his status as a household name during the 1990s.
In later years, Norris gained renewed popularity through internet culture with the viral phenomenon known as “Chuck Norris Facts,” humorous exaggerations about his strength and toughness that spread widely online.
His family emphasized that beyond his fame, Norris valued faith, discipline, and the people closest to him.
“He lived his life with faith, purpose, and an unwavering commitment to the people he loved. Through his work, discipline, and kindness, he inspired millions around the world.”
They also thanked fans who had followed his career for decades and sent support after news of his recent hospitalization.
“The love and support he received from fans around the world meant so much to him… To him, you were not just fans, you were his friends.”
As the family mourns his passing, they have asked for privacy during this difficult time.
Chuck Norris leaves behind a legacy that spans martial arts, film, television, and popular culture. For many fans, he was more than an action star—he was a symbol of resilience, discipline, and strength whose influence reached far beyond the screen.
